The UAB offers a minor in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (Primary Education) to students enrolled in the General Education degree in Primary.
The purpose of this minor is to give the opportunity to students who are studying early childhood, primary education or other degrees related to language education to receive complementary training in language teaching in formal settings. The minor aims to help teacher to be able to use the target language as a communication tool in the classroom and as a tool for cross-curricular learning. Classes are taught by highly qualified and experienced professors who aim to create participative and engaging environment for learning. Professional opportunities for graduates with this minor include teaching in early childhood and primary education, specialized adult language education, language classes in hospitals and penitenciaries and specialized language centres.
Students interested in taking the minor should bear in mind that all the compulsory courses are taught through English as the language of instruction. The lack of mastery in English – inability to communicate fluently and appropriately in any medium, whether written or spoken – will be taken into consideration in the final evaluation of all the courses. Students should also be aware that B2.2 is the entry language level, which is lower than the level expected for succesful completion of the courses.

Students enrolled in the primary education degree and who carry out their final research project may have their work selected to be published in the annual Research Report Digest (only work written in English is considered eligible).
